About the Book

Out of 2590 photographs, 792 slides were converted to digital images to use for Transitional Photographs of One Blue Bird Square Olean, New York. Mr. Howard is fascinated with the idea of telling a story with numbered photographs and captions. The complete story from ground breaking, excavating to building of forms to pouring concrete through a series of detailed images that stir the imagination as each turned page further develops the building into a character of its very own.

Les Howard first found inspiration through photography in school. He liked the idea of taking a series of pictures in sequence to tell a story from start to finish. His first serious idea began with a college art project in which he took black and white pictures of the Sound Factory being dismantled. His photos in sequence earned him an A.
